When we first started we had no idea what was good and what wasn’t, and spent weeks and months checking out other people’s solutions to see if they could be a fit for us. 

There were so many systems to choose from and to be honest some were over the top in terms of what we needed. We didn’t want a gold plated solution when something basic would do.

These were our requirements:

1. To be able to show case our business. If anyone asked me where they could find out more, I wanted to point them to a website. So a website was a must have.

2. Then we wanted a way to grow our email list and collect contact details of our leads, so we needed something to build funnels. We knew that funnels were a great way to build an email list but we didn’t have anything to do that, so funnel building software became an early requirement.

3. We needed a way to collect all that data coming through the funnel. We needed an email scheduling tool and something that could track customer information and behaviour (like their name and email address, purchases and things they opted in for). We needed an email marketing tool and a CRM (a customer relationship management tool).

4. We sold digital courses and we wanted our clients to be able to pick and choose what they wanted and buy them at will. We also needed a place to store our digital assets when we ran live workshops so a course portal was another requirement.

5. As we did Done For You work and individual coaching calls we needed a way to allow our clients book time in our calendar to meet with us when it suited. It became really obvious we needed a scheduling tool to allow us to do that rather than going back and forth over email or direct messages. Having a scheduling tool to allow us to do that was another requirement.

Automating these parts of our business meant that we could free up our day to work on the business rather than in it. Also there were things that only we could do and so being able to free up our time was a massive part of our success.

It meant that once we had automated our systems, we could impact more people with less effort AND we had so much more free time! 

The difference was like night and day. It really was a pivotal life changing moment in our business.

Back then we had to piece multiple solutions together. Thank goodness we were IT experts and could integrate systems together easily so they would talk to one another.

Fast forward three years and now we have our own system!
